I have an early 1960 with the single stock 2818S Carter WCFB carb on it. My question is on the correct setting for the choke. It says in a book I have "The normal setting of the choke is such that the index mark on the plastic cover is aligned with the molded center mark on the choke housing". It says that left of center is "rich" and right of center is "lean". On the choke housing on the carb there is a line marking the center and four shorter lines to the left and right of the center line. On the bakelite choke cover there is one inscribed line on the side which lines up with the housing lines. You can rotate the cover to line up on whatever line you need to be on. From this book I am assuming that the longer line and the inscribed line are to match up. Are there any instance that this would be adjusted to the right or left of center? Just trying to get my carb adjusted just right. Thanks in advance.

Re: C1 Carb choke adjustment
Your right , left is closing the choke ( arrow pointing left ), regardless of the lines just set it where you need it to work properly .There are covers where the arrow may point left or right because of different years cars or Corvette ( arrows pointing right was used to close choke in that direction). Also the inside springs are different size, again depending on the car or Corvette it's used on. If your lines your talking about don't aligned up the way you say, you may have the wrong cover inside spring ( to large or to small)- Top

Re: C1 Carb choke adjustment
Yes, very often when they are adjusted properly, the 2 main marks don't line up. The 2 main lines are simply a frame of reference. You may need to go a couple lines to one side or the other. If you need to go way off, I'd suspect something was wrong.- Top
