    Lowering the Body with A/C

On the assembly line, I assume the A/C Compressor was already mounted on the motor when the body was dropped. Next month I should be ready to put the body back on my car.

Question: Given the weight of the compressor compared to the space it takes up, would you recommend reassembling the body first or mounting compressor first?

As long as the compressor is mounted far enough inboard that you do not damage the wheel skirts, you should be able to mount it prior to body drop. Make sure you have the evaporator already installed, it's very difficult to get to once the body is on. I also recommend installing the distributor AFTER you drop the body. It is very close to the firewall and a slight movement could cause it to hit the firewall during body drop.
