Doing a body off on a 1960 Vette and the chassis is rusted beyond use. Any suggestions? Good old one or after market?? Bill

May sound crazy,But I would contact the companies selling the aftermarket frames for the C1's that upgrade the suspentions to the modern type.Alot of folks are actually taking a perfect old frame and putting a modern one under the car.

SR111,Jamersons, Billy Dawson, And explain to them that you are looking for a used frame for your 60. I am in the process of building a 1962 tube frame car and could not of been happyer the day my stock frame left my drive way (mine was quite rusty) But there are alot of good used frames coming to the market from these style projects.

Larry is right , more C1's are getting up dated then restored , by by NCRS C1 Corvettes.
How many old fords or any old car still original???

I dug mine out of a barn in upsate New York,it was sitting since 1976.Mine was a perfect canditate for this type of a build Rusty frame,no motor or trans,Needing every thing.

With those condtions I fealt it would not be a good Factory correct restoration car ,The cost of the rebuild would far out weigh the value in todays market.

Paragon Reproductions has been know to have some nice used original frames from time to time. They are great people to deal with. In addition to frames, they have just about any original part that came on a Corvette and have excellant quality reproduction parts. Crane's Corvettes advertise original frames for sale also. Hope this helps.

It really depends on what you want the car to be. Do you want a driver, close to original or a hot rod that looks like a Corvette with modern suspension?
There are several companies making aftermarket modern frames for C1 Corvette's. Use any search engine on the internet to find them or check www.corvettefever.com December issue for list of sources.

If it's an original frame you want previous posts explained where to look. If it is a repo frame those are available too, Vette Products of Michigan for one. Where you are located might determine who you buy from, to save on shipping.

When you decide which direction you are going then you might want to ask where to purchase based on location and recomendations. Hope this helps.
