Or, talk to the airframe mechanic at your local airport and see where he gets it - they use lots of the stuff.

Talk to one of your friends that's in the "Air National Guard". They will usually have a can or two that get's "lost in inventory"!

One note on zinc chromate primer. It is pretty toxic stuff. Be sure to use a supplied air respirator and plenty of ventilation.

Quanta used to carry the real stuff but now only a synthetic spray can. The marine stores carry, I just bought a spray can from West Marine for $12 made by Tempo. A few weeks back someone on this board suggested a primer sold by Grainger supply which I bought. Looks just like the real stuff and is very reasonably priced at $3 a can. It is made by DEM KOTE, called Zinc Green number 06MT30. It covers lightly so just keep spraying.

If you want the real stuff Aircraft Spruce sells it (link below), but it does not look the same. They sell both Zinc Chromate and Zinc Oxide its replacement. See the warning on the web site. I think they will still sell it to you.

I just bought a case of 6 for 7.55 a can. Its the real thing and the correct color. Tempo 5605. Just put that number in a search and you will find plenty.

                    Re: zinc chromate primer

I bought the Tempo green zinc oxide primer (No.802) and the color is dead on. Bought it at my local Dupont jobber in a 12 ounce spray can for around $7. I would call around to the auto paint stores in your area and see if they have some on the shelf before I would mail order. The shipping alone could double your cost.

Just to correct the Grainger part number, it is 6MT30. It is a straight primer, contains NO chromates, but is dead on in color.
