sidepipes..."NCRS can determine ??? "

I have a '67 with zip for docs. at the moment....regarding the comment "NCRS can determine if the car is as delivered from records & your vin & tag info." How can NCRS determine what any car had origionally without docs ???? VIN / TAG aren't documentation are they ?

My take is Kazmierzak was SPECIFICALLY talking about the '65. AIM and survey data 'document' when N-14 was phased into production. So these 'records' bar an early build '65 from being a legitimate factory assembly. This ties to the VIN/trim tag as they tie down the car's final assembly date in St. Louis (can diverge in the case of AO Smith cars that had to travel to St. Louis and were 'inventoried' at times waiting outside for final build integration).


You're reading the words Dennis used and adding interpretation to 'em (presuming there's some secret stache of files and/or some intelligence in the VIN/Trim codes that isn't there). Both Dennis and I have seen guys take early '65 cars, put pipes on 'em, bring 'em to be judged then become unhappy campers when the specifics of the NCRS Judging Guide, the Judging Reference Manual and the senior judges' knowledge result in a full deduction on the exhaust system. My educated guess is this is what Dennis was saying without getting real specific....

Joe, I agree with everyone it is better not to go with side exhaust and the under car systems will get you the note you seek. I put Allens chambered pipes on my car (71 LT-1) and the sound is wonderful so did 1 of my friends after hearing it put the same under hi 67 sb convt. Installation was painless and resulted in no damaging mods. MY $ 0.02 worth
