    66 BB water pump rebuild.

My water pump has been making noise all summer. Now that the Vettes are away for the winter, I'm going to remove it and send it out to be rebuilt. Arthur Gould was mentioned several times in the archives....is he still recommended? I could not find the reference I was looking for in the archives regarding the type of impeller I should use in the rebuild. Can someone please help me out here. Thanks.

Arthur Gould did my small block pump this past summer, quick turnaround, fair price and primed, ready to paint.

        Rick,

Before you send it in for rebuild, check to see if it has the correct 4 hole hub. If not, this is a good time to have a correct one installed.

Yes, most waterpumps used in PRODUCTION used the single pattern ("4 mounting hole") hub. Most SERVICE and rebuilt waterpumps have the dual pattern ("8 mounting hole") hub. However, once installed on the car I would think that the difference between them would be indiscernable.

The most important thing is to have a hub which retains the proper interference fit and is completely square with respect to the shaft (i.e. the face of the hub has minimal runout). Sometimes, original-style, single pattern hubs won't do very well with respect to these important qualities when they're re-used. I don't know why.

What about the rebuilt water pumps supplied by Bill Mock in Oklahoma??
            Are they "correct" and reliable??
