    69 9 Leaf Rear Spring

I purchased a 9 leaf rear spring thru e-bay that was from a 1976 and it appears to be in excellent condition. However, I want to use it on my 69 for NCRS judging, but cannot compare it to an original 1969 because mine was replaced with a repro unit. I have several questions regarding this spring.

    Will a 9 leaf spring from a 1976 be correct for a 69?

How many liners should there be on a 9 leaf spring?

Are there liners between all leaves?

What are the lenght of each liner?

I purchase a rebuild kit from Corvette Central and there are only 7 liners.

    Thanks for your help.

Re: 69 9 Leaf Rear Spring

    George,

Have you read my article from a couple of years ago in the Corvette Restorer? If not, I recommed it. It documents the standard rear leaf springs used from 1963 thru 1977. For 1976 the standard spring was a single-stage, 10-leaf spring with 9 liners. For 69 the standard spring was a two-stage, 9-leaf spring with 7 liners. So, if you really did buy a 76 spring, any careful judge should be able to see that it's wrong for your 69.
