Just wondering what the proper finish is for the two straps and their bolts that hold the expansion tank on a 69. I checked through my TIM&JG but couldn't find this info. Thanks.

Clear zinc is the same stuff you find on a nice looking silver bolt in your local hardware store (clear zinc). Plating shops can duplicate it. There is some variation in color depending on the plater or the chemical soup they are using but most of that disappears after a couple years of exposure to air. Some people clear coat such items to prevent air getting to them and changing the color. I happen to like the patina that forms on original items.Comment

If you take your cleaned (bead blasted to bare metal) parts to a plater and ask for batched plated clear zinc that will get you the original as new look they once had. If you engine compartment is not all restored to the same level the new plated parts will look out of place.
