Any idea what these tire are worth?

Does anyone have an idea of what a original set of 7.75x15 gold line tires in good condition are worth.

These were on a corvette new in 1965 and removed in 1969 and stored since then.

    Re: a lot!

Original gold lines if newish can be worth a bunch. $1000- $2000. A friend bought an original set a couple of years ago for $2500 (not driven on)

How can I tell if they are originals as stated or repro's?

Originals non DOT. All repros are DOT marked

Oops! I forgot about the Doc and his magic. Although I think that I probably was one of the first to do that. Had a set at Seven Springs at the National. Was asked several times by judges if they were original. Ain't it fun!

What other tricks you got in your "Fool The Judges" toolbox? They say confession is good for the soul.

You have struck on a brillant concept Chuck...

While the Master Judge canidates are off on their retreat this Feb, the rest of the membership can gather for a

                "Fool the Judges" seminar.

Let see...we can have Dickie, Mikie, DC and others that have previously held positions of prominence in this organization, present intricate trickery techniques that "someone they know about" may have used to capture those illusive judging points.

We could have demonstrations on actual parts brought to the gathering by members.

Dang, I wish I'd thought of this....it's gonna be HUGE!!!

                  Uhhh...Sorry, Tracy.

I won't be able to make it...I'll be at the "Master Judge Wannabe Retreat".

TC, that is part of the fun of restoring a car. Whether it be a Corvette or a Packard, making, remodeling, altering parts to duplicate the ORIGINAL, not to conterfit something that was not there, is somewhat of a challenge. I have said many times anyone can do the major things in a restoration. Not many take the time for the fine details. It is not an attempt to conterfit, rather an attempt to duplicate the appearance that the car had as it left the assembly plant.
