    1050104 Black Recon Paint

Does anyone know who the original vendor/source was for the GM 1050104 black reconditioning paint? Just curious and wondered if they were still in business. Thanks,

    Michael

Michael, I bought the same paint from PPG in the mid to late 90's. I believe it was called reconditioning paint? It was a black, prethinned lacquer, ready to spray out of the can. Since I retired I have not kept up with the availability

Thanks Dick. I'll check into availability. I was under the impression it was enamel but I'm not a painter so I don't know. I do know that it worked incredibly well for parts and blackout. Had a unique look that I can't begin to describe.

I buy my blackout paint from PPG as well. I get DDL 9700 (tuxedo black) lacquer, and have them flatten it to an eggshell gloss. The original blackout paint was lacquer, and this formula will match very well and have no compatability roblems with the exsisting paint

You might still be able to get it from GM. However, I believe that you must buy a 4 gal. case. Quanta Products sells it too on a per gallon basis.

I'm afraid that the GM #1050104 has been discontinued now for about 2 years years and no supercessive part number exists.
