    C4 storage

What is the best way to prep a C4 coming out of two years of storage before starting? The gas is at least two years old and stabilizer was NOT used.
    Thanks, Jim 42765

Since you mentioned the old fuel, you could change the fuel filter, and while the lines are disconnected put a hose on the supply line to a container and turn on the ignition and the fuel pump relay will only let the pump run for a few seconds with no oil pressure. So you would have to make multiple attemps start the car several times to purge the fuel in the tank depending on how much is there. If you know how to sipon gas with a hose stuck into the tank, you could do this first to remove as much as you can sipon. What the gas condition is like after this storage period in a sealed system may be better than what you might expect. Your 84 may not have to use the highest octane gas for good engine performance. I have been using 87 octane in my 85 daily driver and have had no problems. The engine data specifications I have shows the 87 octane for its fuel requirement.

Thanks Jim, I plan to siphon the tank but wasn't sure how the get the old fuel out of the lines. I'll try your suggestion.

With an initial startup after two years I would not turn it over without some upper cyl lubricant.
I'm sure there are many opinions about this but I always pull the plugs and spray some oil in there first. I'll let this sit for a period on time to allow it to settle around the upper ring. With the plugs still out I'll spin the crank a couple turns. Now if you hit the starter the fuel pump will run on the bypass ( bypassing the oil preasure switch ) With fresh fuel & new filter it shouldn't take much for it to run through the system and you also primed the oil system before you actually put any load on the bearings. Fresh fuel fresh plugs and fresh oil in the system. Your ready to go.

Thanks Steve, Excellent suggestions. I was thinking more about the old fuel and didn't think about the lack of lubrication.
