Re: Cleaning Frame
re cleaning frame gene manno ed i've done both acid dip and sand blast acid dip cleans the inside of the frame something blasting is limited in doing but coating the new bare metal inside is not easy most places in the frame if these are not coated rusting appears to speed up complete removal of all the acid was also a problem for the next several months even after painting it appears to weep out of the seams painting should be done asap due to acid's ultra cleaning effect on steel be sure to neutralize the acid prior to finishing now blasting will not remove rust inside closed frame members but you don't see it any way that old rust inside should not be any worse years from now yes i prefer blasting hope this helps you- Top

Re: Cleaning Frame
re cleaning frame wayne john i'd do both i did one using acid dip then had some trouble with the paint appearance perhaps i didn't neutralize it enough after getting it back from dipping or perhaps the paint store screwed up the paint formula whatever the problem i ended up grinding it back down to bare metal and repainting it my suggestion is to get it dipped then take it for a very light sandblasting on the outside to aid paint adherence coat the inside with antirust you can buy a kit about with the material spraygun and extension rods from eastwood or j c whitney i did the outside of mine with self etching imron primer and slightly dulled black imron- Top
