    1967 Seat Belts

I have two sets of 1967 seat belts. One has tags that read: "THIS BELT CONFORMS TO SAE J4C AND FERERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS". The other set has tags that read: "THIS BELT MEETS ALL REQUIREMENTS OF SAE SPEC J-4K AND FERERAL SPEC". Is one more correct for a 1967 March car?

Also, one set has the number "3187" imprinted under the IMPORTANT instruction box on the backside of the buckle and the other set has the number "4352". What is the significants of these numbers?

    Re: 1967 Seat Belts

My original 67 April build coupe belts have the following...
THIS BELT MEETS ALL REQUIREMENTS OF SAE SPEC J-4c AND FEDERAL SPEC.
    HAMILL 1967
    MODEL #C10
The LARGE ink stamp number is 12E67

The buckle # on both belts is 3404

    Hope this helps...

My '67 has a build date In January, and the belts read "THIS BELT CONFORMS TO SAE....." like Steve's.

        Re: 1967 Seat Belts

Jim - Is there a "date of manufacture" on either of the belts?

Belts for my '67 S/N 1476, September 1966 build car and belts with a date of manufacture 36E66, read THIS BELT MEETS ALL REQUIREMETS OF SAE SPEC J-4c AND FEDERAL SPEC. They also read HAMILL 1967 and MODEL # C20. apparently there was a change in the tag from early belts to mid-production belts. When, I don't know, but it looks like another interesting '67 factoid to follow up on. Hope this helps. Pete

          Re: 1967 Seat Belts

My car was assembled in early April. The belts are black, and the labels on the belts have the text version that says "THIS BELT MEETS ALL REQUIREMENTS OF SAE SPEC J4c AND FEDERAL SPEC." The date on the labels is 10E67 (10th week of 1967). The number stamped on the back of the buckles is 3395. This number appears at the bottom, outside the box that contains all the wording.

If you learn anything interesting about this, please post it to this thread. My belts are pretty worn, so they will be making a trip to Snake Oyl at some point in the future. I'd like to make sure that nothing important gets lost in the restoration process.

Joe, thanks for the input. The follow-up with Snake Oyl is scheduled for December 6th. Hopefully, this will give them time to research as promised. Will post their findings.
