    Color of C-3 Seat Rails

The 1973-1974 TIM notes that the color of the seat rails are Black Phosphate. Looking for recommendations on how best to replicate this color and interested in hearing the names of any sources from where I can purchase it. Thanks.

Ray, if the seat 73-74 adjusters are the same as my 70, they are only half black...the other half is natural steel. I say black because I'm no longer sure its black phosphate, in spite of what the judging manuals say.

In any event, the average restorer won't have the tools or the expertise to disassemble the adjusters for phosphating only the black half. I suggest masking the natural half (if applicable), and using one of the spray paint substitutes available for black phosphate on the rest.
