C1 Door Striker Plate Mounting Units

Had to remove the two different mounting units holding the striker plates to the door jamb as the screws were completely rusted and resistant to any mode of removal. Noticed that the retaining unit that holds the plate to which the three screws are attached is mounted by studs behind the door jamb. Any suggestions as to how best re-attach new units given the inaccessibility of this space? Or, alternative options? Also, any sources for securing new attaching units would be helpful. Thanks. Richard,

I have had my door striker plates out twice, and the plate behind had broken from its mount. It is possible to re-attach the striker plates without having to have the receiver plate securely mounted. It takes two people, one with a small hand and slim wrist to work behind the rear door jamb. If I remember correctly, the person on the doorside placed a small diameter screwdriver through one hole of the striker plate and the anti-skid plate and the small handed guy, me, fitted the back plate over the screwdriver. Then the person on the door side placed a bolt through a second hole in the striker and the anti-skid plate and I lined up the receiver plate. This is getting long - but! Once you get the bolt threaded, you have the inside person with the aching arm hold the plate and you take out the screwdriver and repeat the process. The third bolt should work like a charm. Once you have all three bolts in place, you will need to adjust the sticker to receive the door locking mechanism. This was a bit long, but it worked for me. My wrist and forearm really ached because of the twisting necessary, but it worked.

    Good Luck!

When I said "plate", I really meant "retainer."
