    3418-1 Carb

I just purchased a Holley carb, part # 3886091, List 3418-1. Chevy by the Numbers shows this as coming off of a '67 L88 Corvette. Does the -1 after 3418 signify anything?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Re: 3418-1 Carb

    Mike,

The -1 after the list number indicates that this is a unit with revisions and this was the 1st revision. The original 3418 was modified shortly after it's introduction on the 67 L88 cars and replaced with the 3418-1. Any number of modifications by GM or Holley can cause this but in this particular case, it was fuel mixture. The jetting was changed to richen the mixture and also at least one (front?) of the metering bodies was changed. I suppose the later -1 carburetor may have been used on late 67 L88's.

      Re: 3418-1 Carb

the 1967 3418-1 and the 1969 4296 LIST Holley carbs have been available as service dated carbs for years so unless the date codes are original, they are not rare. The 1968 and early 1969 4054 LIST carb is not widely available and is nearly identical to the 3418-1 except that the 4054 has a PCV nipple on the throttle plate. All of these carbs are stagger jetted and have mixture distribution tabs on the booster venturis as they were designed to work best with the plenum divider cut out of the stock high rise intake.
