    Mid Year Wiper Arm installation

I'm ready to install my wiper arms on my 66. In the AIM, there is a page which shows correct position for the proper pattern. Only thing is, it's all GREEK to me! What does L.O.F. mean? Are the dotted lines the position in Park? What's the easiest way to put these on, do they just snap in? Can someone supply measurements I can understand as to position of each arm in Park?

    Thanks!

With the adjusment screw centered and the motor in park position, put the pass side on first so it is approximately parallel to the lower w/shield moulding. Put the driver's side on about 1" above and parallel to the pass side (adjustment also centered). Put some masking tape over the mouldings where they might hit, wet the windshield and give them a try. Use the screws if they hit each other. Use the screws or move them to another spline if they hit the mouldings.

What screws are you referring to for adjustment? I need to adjust mine also and wasn't aware of any other way other changing the position on the spline. (I think the passenger side wiper rests above the drivers)

          Scott,
I was wondering about that too.....are you referring to the screw in the wiper arm? What exactly does this adjust?

The screw adjusts the angle of the blade. You'll be surprised just how much adjustment you have.

Oh, and one more thing! Go out to the auto parts store and buy a wiper removal tool. Mine so old and worn, I can't even read the manufacturer. It's just a flat 1" wide piece of steel with a hooked piece dangling off the end that clips onto the back of the wiper arm. Takes a little knack. But trust me, it is the ONLY way to remove and re-install wipers without doing damage to your car or your sanity.

Here's the wiper arm remove/install tool - any good auto parts store has them for less than ten bucks (made by Lisle and K-D); makes what is otherwise a frustrating operation a piece of cake, and you won't scratch your paint or stainless trim. The piece of tape prevents scratching the top of the wiper arm hub. The passenger side blade rests above the driver's side blade. The "D.L.O." is the "Daylight Opening" - where the top of the rubber channel ends and the glass starts.

Day Light Opening??? Thanks John, I never would have guessed that one!!! Good trivia question. Also, thanks for confirmation on blade position...
