C2 Exhaust manifold coating

Has anyone ever heard of a factory coating on the inside of an exhaust manifold? This would be on a '67 300 hp car with sidepipes. It is a one owner car, and he doesn't recall ever having this done. The coating was white & grey, like a type of porcellin. I've never seen this on a Chevy. Any input?

chevy sent the cast iron exhaust maifolds to the engine assembly area in a raw state, no coatings internally or externally. mike
