      Who said that it couldn't be done? The fittings were originally welded to these tanks (except for some earlier C2 tanks). They can be rewelded if they come off. The repaired tank might not look exactly as-original, but it will still be the original tank. Of course, if a tank was in overall bad shape, a replacement with a DeWitts reproduction would probably be the way to go.
