    Ebay Assistance

Gentlemen and the few Ladies present:

I listed some original GM 65-66 BB hood grill shields on ebay. One pair is used; the other are NOS. Do these descriptions sound OK? Only once before did I ever list any parts on ebay. It was NOS, but it never even got a bid although the starting price was $15. Any tip? Garage is too full. Teepee full also.

Doc,your listings look good to me. Just keep trying and I think you will be surprised. I have successfully sold more stuff than I imagined possible on Ebay. The only problem is that I have turned around a bought an almost equal amount of corvette stuff from others on Ebay.

        Geoffrey,

I have a question about the new set. Difficult to tell in the pic but is this a pair or are they both the same side. Looks like one is right side up and the other upside down??? I know one side discontinued many years before the other and all that was available was one side. If truly a left and right, I would be interested in bidding. Thanks.

They are definately LH & RH, based upon the each side being the mirror image of the other. (Unlike LH & RH front side exhaust cover brackets which are opposite sides but not mirror images of each other.) I'm assuming the the shields are exact mirror images, but my memory is not certain.

Thanks Geoffrey. If you do find that they are the same and not symetrically opposite, would you let me know or post. Thanks,

Is this shot any more convincing? The location of the bigger hole in the center is what makes them LH and RH. (There is and has never been any additional charge for the Carlisle dust.) If I were to use these, I would strip and repaint them. The one with the GM tags looks so typical of a part that was hung and dipped or sprayed. Runs, Sags. The other one does not have those paint features.

Geoffrey, Corvette part buyers are notorious for being last minute bidders (Snipes) I usually start everything at 9.99 and let the process take it's natural course, as that encourges early bidding by those trying to "steal" a rare part, and many bidders gain confidence when they see bids from others. Just my 2cents...

I've sold a lot of parts myself on ebay for 65-67's. Your listing is accurate and fair, to say the least. My experience is that description is the most important, followed by pictures. I agree that a low starting bid is the key, as long as you have a reserve. I've listed items with a starting price near what I wanted and had no bids, then relisted them at a much lower starting price, (with a reserve) and sold them for my than my previous starting price. The key is to get more than one person interested. Do a search in corvette collector parts for items like those you have listed or intend to, and see how much interest there is.

I apologize if it has offended

                            Sir

I am a novice. A complete virgin at ebay. In my only prior attemp at ebay sex I got zero bids. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zots. Any advice is appreciated.
