Owners of 1962 Corvettes, I might have your engine!
A '61 that I recently purchased has a 1962 Corvette engine installed. I know how important it is to have the original matching number engine so if the car is still in existence, please contact me and I will consider working with you to get it back where it belongs. The engine was recently completely rebuilt with some performance options and it runs better than new. It can easily be brought back to stock although I don't have the original heads or manifolds.
Here are the casting, date, and stampings:
Casting 3782870, Date Stamp: A312 (January 31, 1962), Front Pad: 2106810 F0206SC. The last five digits of the car VIN should end with 06810. Built in Flint on February 6. The SC code means that it was originally equipped with a powerglide transmission. According to the WI NCRS birthday calculator, the matching car was built on or about February 13, 1962 so the dates seem to fit.
Maybe this will make someone's day. I would like to get so lucky in finding the original engine for my car.
