Adding to the eBay rip-offs -

Try an NOS pulley for more than what you can run down to your local Chevy dealer and get it for. And then, you have to add shipping on top of the auction price.

Granted this is the only way some people in some locations can get parts, but this is a bit much. This pulley is $47.12 at the local Chevy dealer.

    Mike,

I agree. I've already had a few discussions with this "jeffyrock" guy about his misleading advertising. It's not a crime to sell currently available parts on ebay for more than list price but it's wrong to do so and list them as "NOS". Most people have no idea what's still available from GM and many take advantage of that.

Actually, since you mentioned it, it is wrong if he is buying new stock and selling it as new old stock.

Same guy that was selling new 8" harmonic balancers for 62-68 and calling them NOS. He showed two pictures of the balancer but neither were from the back side so you couldn't see that there were no fins. It was the current replacement without fins.

Seems like 75% of the parts that are listed on Ebay as NOS are actually still currently available from GM for much less.

HA! I was one mouse click away from purchasing a set of pullies from this guy -alternator, balancer, and water pump. Since he was kind enough to provide the part numbers I called my local GM dealer just to see if they were still available (Buick) and they sold them to be for $10 above cost for each one.

I've also purchased some other parts and they give me good deals because they know I'm putting them on a '65 corvette - not on EBAY.

Mike - maybe the O is NOS means it has aged at least a week from when he ordered it from GM... Craig

The term "NOS" is abused about as much as "matching numbers", particularly on ebabe. To me, NOS is an unused part from the time period it was used on a particular vehicle.

Yes NOS is un-used original from the parts department which I like to buy ( if correct) which many are not.
But used original parts are hard to sell because of all the repro's that are pretty and cleaner, which many people buy over real parts.( also many so called original repro parts are not correct) How many times have we seen people complain about original repro's not looking like the original part.It all comes down to your personal mine set. Do you won't to know weather your driving a REAL or a some what kit car.I love the challenge in the time it take and effort it takes to find the REAL part . Then when I add a better part or REAL part to my Corvette, I get a great feeling of accomplishment .
                But again that's ME.
