Dumb question

dumb question carl rose sorry i know this is a dumb question but i threw a fan belt over the weekend and overheated my numbers matching car shudder at least it wasn't a after refilling the cooling system it seems to run ok and there is no white smoke in the exhaust or bubbles in the expansion tank have i mortally wounded my car if so how could i tell is there anything i should be looing out for thanks carl

re dumb question joe lucia carl i seriously doubt that you did any real damage to your engine i presume that you shut down the engine relatively soon after it overheated under such a circumstance it is doubtful that damage occurred usually damage occurs if you continue to run the engine after overheating of course damage under your circumstances is possible but i wouldn't worry about it

re dumb question t c make sure you change your oil overheating will kill it

re dumb question wayne if no smoke or increased oil or water consumption and there's no new lifter noise ticks or rod knocks you probably don't need to worry
