    Chicago Corvette Supply

Has anyone had a problem with Chicago Corvette Supply?

I ordered a Fan Shroud for my 1968 Corvette from there catalog. Upon receiving the shroud I found that it was not for a 68-72 but in fact a 69-72. I returned the shroud UPS with a letter explaining what had happened. I alos called the company several time and then sent them another letter. I have been since May 28th trying to get this resolved. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks Jay

I had a bad experience with Chicago Corvette Supply recently too. Shipped me the wrong part (firewall insulation) and it took a while to get credit back for it. Also, they had parts I orderd on backorder for well over 3 months. Everytime I called to check on the status it seemed like nobody had a handle on anything. Finally I just told them to cancel the order. I stopped using them altogether after that. Too many other suppliers out there with fewer hassles.

I thought they went out of business, since their website has been down for so long.

        Corvette Supply

I've been waiting 2 months for a MC rebuild kit from Paragon. Each time I call them, they have never called me, they tell me they will call the supplier and get back to me. Then when I call back they tell me no word from there supplier.

My experience with CCS was more than 2 years ago and involved a carb sent for restoration. I know better restorers now, but I sent them my carb and thought I would never get it back. I found they do not do the carb work in house. CCS sent the carb to someone in New Jersey who shipped it directly back to me. At the time, I sensed that CCS's problem was centered around internal communication in their business and that perhaps one person made the business run (at least the restoration part) and when he was not around, things got out of whack. I continually received conflicting stories from whomever answered my query of the day. I could have saved a lot of grief by dealing direct with the restorer. JMHO.
          Best regards,
          Charlie

            numerous problems!

I have had numerous problems with them!

-Bought a #8400 "starter" from them, received an empty main case with the number stamped on it, no guts, no nose! I called and they refused to send me the rest of the starter or give a partial refund so I could buy the stuff needed!

-Called and "bought" an original L88 carb for $1000. He took my Mastercard info and said it would be shipped later that week. I made numerous calls over the following month as no carb received and was finally told he (Al) decided not to sell it to me as "the date code was a better match for another customer" so MY PAID FOR carb was sold to someone else!

-Tried to get several small carb parts - numerous calls over three months and parts never came!

I would rather set my car on fire for lack of parts than ever try to buy from them again!

Years ago, I had the same problems. Doesn't look like much has changed. Terry

                Charlie,

I had one of my tri-power carbs restored through CCS a few years back, except the restorer was in Georgia. Was Chicago Corvettes Rep's name Al Ferke, real A#####E, been told he was part owner?. What a loser!!.

I just bought something from Al Fierke on ebay (an NOS evap core). Got a good deal on it, but I had to send a money order. The part looks good, and was well-packaged. When I got it, it said "chicago corvette" on the return address. I wrote him an email asking if Chicago Corvette was still in business or if he was downsizing, and got no reply. Almost seems like he's liquidating the parts inventory on the internet....

                  Just an observation.

Is this Al Fierke the same as MZTERCARB on Ebay? I see him selling a lot of Corvette parts, especially carb related parts?

I just bought a 696 alternator from CCS. The part was pretty nice and shipping was fast. A while back, I bought some parts thru the ebay connection without any problems. Their catalog has a lot of useful information in it. Get one if you have not seen it..I have had good service so far... Kurt

                          Re: Chicago Corvette Supply

I have dealt with a lot of Corvette suppliers from coast to coast for about 14 years and the worst one was Chicago Corvette. Everything from wrong items shipped, constant back orders, damaged items, being over charged, over charged on shipping,
horrible paper work, bad customer service, etc. You name it, it happened. Finally I wised up and never used them again. Everyone else I used was great! Have not used CCS for years now and thank god. Sounds like they never got any better. Anyone else I know that used them was sorry and had the same complaints. As this goes back years, I can't understand how they remain in business??

I have had no problems with CCS. However, I just go over there and do my business over the counter, where I can see the part I am buying.

BTW, his shop is directly across the street from Resurrection Cemetery, home of Chicago's most famous ghost, Resurrection Mary. Fitting comment for late October?

Also, Jerry Clark can tell some stories about Al, dating from High School days.

Kevin if I understand your post, you are waiting for a rebuild kit for the master cylinder. Did you try and obtain the rebuild kit from NAPA or Auto Zone?
