    Re: VIN TAG

    Michael,

You will find (hopefully) the serial number/V.I.N. plate on a brace directly under the I.P. compartment door. Ya know, the thing that everyone calls a glove compartment. I've always wondered about that. Did new cars from the 30's 40's come equipped with a glove in there and the name just stuck or was there some other mysterious reason?

      Re: VIN TAG

Under the glove box. You will see a rectangular tag about 4x1-1/2 with the paint and trim information and to the right is a stainless steel tag about 3x1 with the VIN.

      1965

      1963 trim

I was hop=ing to find a photo of the trim and VIN tags but not today it seems.

The 63 VIN tag is spot welded on so if it is welded, it is correct.

        Here's a photo

this is for a '67, but they are very much the same. Again, the '63 will have the VIN spot welded on without rivets.

mike: my friends , in the 1960's, called it their condom box. having slept at the foot of the cross since 1945, i personally never referred to it as such. regards, mike

              and thats why.......

the General put a lock on it so one didn't have to worry about any missing inventory.

                Mike,

Several people that I met here in FL live in town houses or condoms. All the rage here.

1945? I didn't know you were older than I. I thought I was the geezer of the bunch.

I dunno Geezer, I graideueadted hy skol in 1964 so I just assumed I was the geezer of the bunch till I saw your "geezer" user name. Had to change my user name to something else. Seems like just a few years ago that I first joined the NCRS and it was in the 70's. Time sure flies.

Young whipper snapper. My 45th HS reunion is next week. Maybe I shouldn't advertise that, but I know there are folks more aged than me around here.

                        Re: Geezer

Funny but I always picture the people that I haven't seen for years as looking the same as they did the last time I did see them. I remember most of the NCRS guys from the late 70's/early 80's but I haven't been going to the events much for the last fifteen years so I probably wouldn't recognize a lot of them.

At the Florida meet in the last few years, I saw very few people that I knew and I now wonder if it was just because a lot of them look a little different today than I remembered them. I think I look the same, other than a few grey hairs here and there but their not mine. I'm just breaking them in for a neighbor.

Hard to imaging, my first NCRS event was over 25 years ago! Where'd the years go??

I think everyone should be required to post their picture on the board so we recognize everyone at the next Florida event. (everyone but me that is)

All youze guys are smart-aleck whippersnappers. I graduated HS in 1950. I had a phone call today about getting ready for our 55th reunion next year.

The gal who did the 50th did everything by hand, whether adressing envelopes or keeping notes on 3x5 cards. I guess that I'll generate an excel spreadsheet to simplify matters.

Looks like Terry and I better respect our elders. Ya got us both by a few years. By the way, he's the whipper-snapper and I'm the smart-aleck this week but we trade off occasionally.

Sure hope Michael Medford, the original poster on the VIN tag issue, understands that we sometimes get a little off the original subject. My fault, sorry Michael. Your Corvette questions will most always be answered in a more direct and proper way.
