...what color is yours? I'm talking about the roof panel that Chevrolet designated RPO CC3.

    John:

For 1985, the car came standard with body colored roof panels. The CC3 option called for dark blue tinted panels. A small number of cars were sold with BOTH sets of panels. I ordered my '85 with CC3, without the body colored panels. In later years, there was also a bronze tinted roof available.

Hmm...my 1985 was being flight judged last weekend and I had originality points deducted for the wrong colored top (the 1984-1986 judging manual says black or a "smoke" tint, I believe). There is no question that my top has a blue tint, but the date code on the top is correct for my early (November 1984) 1985.

My 84 had a blue tint. I remeber distinctly wondering why it was different that the red color on my car.

          John:

The tinting is very dark. If you try to look into the car through the top, it looks opaque black. If you look out the top from inside, it is dark blue. I am the original owner of my car, and, as far as I know, the Rotweiller has prevented any gremlins from switching my original top. I don't yet have the '84-86 TIM&JG, but "smoke" might mean diff things to diff people. The national team leader used my car as one of the "specimens" in writing the Manual.

Thanks, all. The Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide says:

"1984 and 1985 optional top is one-piece removable and transparent smoked gray RPO CC3."

I guess I'll have more confidence with my claim that it is original - at the Chapter meet, my only defence that it was the original was that a replacement couldn't have as much wear!

I'm the original owned of a 85 Corvette the car have 5,964 orig. miles, with the option RPO CC3 Top. The top on the car is smoked gray, the only things that were change were, a new battery, oil filter& oil, and I've taken the original tires off and put away. Hope this helps.

I wonder if we're all talking about the same color...or if there was normal variation...

Confusion is that it is blue tint from the inside, smoked from the outside.
