    1964 Body Build Dates

    Is it possible for the Body Build Date to preceed the casting and stamping dates on the drivetrain? The trim tag indicates the body was assembled in the A.O. Smith plant approximately 6 weeks before the engine code and engine casting dates.

      Sure. The body had to be shipped to St. Louis and then it could sit outside awaiting a chance to go in. Now 6 weeks might be a bit long, but if you have a car that is unrestored and that way, then it could be.
