I am doing a frame off and need to replace the front springs. One measures 15" and the other has half of its first coil broken off. I have looked at most of the normal venders and find it hard to compair there offerings. Some just say Spring small block 63-67, some say replacement or touring spring, some give deflection data lb/in and height. I been told that the origional springs were to light and later springs should be used. I need some help with this.

Re: 63 Front Springs
The '63 springs are unique in that they are constant, not variable rate as later C2s. Spring dimension and engineering data is in the AMA specs that are part of GM's "Restoration Package" that is complimentary to vintage Corvette owners, 800-222-1020.
A lot of aftermarket springs, even those that are claimed to be "correct" are far from original specification. Sorry, that I can't provide you with a source that has acceptable and truly correct front springs for '63. You'll have to do some research.
Start by measuring the wire diameter, coil diameter, number of coils, and overall free length to be sure it is a real OE or equivalent '63 spring, Then demand that vendors provide like information on their springs so you can make the determination if they are really OE equivalent.
You should also look for a good used spring. If you end up replacing, I would recommend replacing both fronts with the closest duplicate you can find, then sell your good used spring to someone who needs one.

Re: 63 Front Springs
I just finished the front suspension and steering on my 63. Had real problem getting springs that matched my originals that I took out. Many suppliers say that they had the correct spring but they don't. The only place that had a spring with same details as mine was Long Island Corvette part number section 49 # 45A (.55 coil diameter, 15 1/8 free height)and correct rate - ~ $150/pr. Note: use caution (per shop manual)when replacing.- Top
