67 BB 435 head casting numbers

I have recently aquired a project 435 hp conv, build date Nov 3 1966, the heads have the casting number 3873858, with a Sept 2 and 7 66 cating date. I thought that all of the 435 cars had the ...391 heads, until doing a little more research. The judging manual states that early cars could have had the ...858 casting number. Are these heads correct for my car?? What is the definition of "early"???. The car will be top flight; bloomington gold as my others, and want to make sure that the correct casting numbers are on the car prior to assembly and judging.

    Thanks, Peter

It seems odd to me now that I find out that a car built 2 days prior to mine hass 391 heads with October dates??? Should I be concerned???

Since your heads were cast Sept 1966, they were most likely used in the 1967 model year. I can assure you the assembly workers didn't care about casting dates and grabbed whatever part was given to them to assemble. Whether those heads were really original for your car - only God will likely know. Personally, I would use them as it's hard to believe anyone trying to "fake" it would have bothered to get castings with an acceptable date but "wrong" number. They would have bought a different set with the "correct" number.
