C3 Broadcast Sheet/Tank Sticker

I am in the process of buying a 71 conv. and the owner said he had a sheet tucked away somewhere that had all the options on it. At first I thought he was refering to the tank sticker but the last time I talked with him he mentioned pulling it out of the springs of the seat. Was this common and would there still be a sticker on the tank. Would they both have the same info or are they two totaly different items?

I have read here on the Tech. Discussion BB and in other literature that there were more than one copy found in a C3. I am not sure if they were all alike, but I would think they would be close if not identical. I have a '69 and it had been gone thru extensively by one of the previous owners. I only found the tank sticker on ours.

Sheldon, what the owner of your '71 has is called the manifest. It was used in several areas of the plant in order to make sure the car got built correctly. The one in the springs of the seat was from the "cushion room", an off-line area where the seats were built up and subsequently returned to the line for installation. Many operators either placed or hog ringed the manifest to the top of the springs before the seat foam and cover was installed.The manifest is commonly called the "build sheet" while the gas tank sticker is really the "Corvette Order Copy", it does not contain nearly the data about your car that the manifest does. The manifest is indeed a valuable piece of documentation for your '71.

I have a 68 and 70 and I found the Corvette Order copies for my cars in the dash. The 68's I just looked at it and put it back for discovery of the next owner if there is one in my lifetime. Both are original owner cars so the paper is not that important of a find for me. There should still be a copy on the gas tank of the 71. Does the owner have the POP (Protect-O-Plate)? The POP will have engine, trans, and rear end data imprinted on a metal plate. Hope the 71 convertible you are looking at has air conditioning. The Corvette Order copy will have type of radio, tire option, deluxe interior, engine, trans type, and other information. You can look at one for a 70 convertible if you go to the 70 Corvette Registry and look at Juliet's Corvette Order form for her 70 convertible with air.

Where under the dash did you find the paper? I have an unrestored 68 late build and I have looked around and can't find anything. I do have the Order Copy on the original tank, but always looking for more.:D

Rich I found my 68's sheet when I was removing the radio to have it repaired. The Order Copy was behind the radio. The 70's Order Copy was behind the speedometer and tach. I have this one out of the car and need to put it back so someone else can find it someday.

I have looked behind the radio, it needs to come out, but I have not done it yet. From under the dash, it's hard to see between the tach and speedo because of the bracket on the steering column, but I guess there is nothing there as I have looked pretty hard.
