67 Floor mats

The reproduction floor mats have a whitish look to them while the originals from that time period are almost clear. Any response as to a better supplier and did the factory ever provide floor mats or did the selling dealer provide and install them.

Don, I can't address your question about the whitish appearance, but I can tell you that any clear plastic mats will yellow with a couple of years (or less) of use. I bought repros years ago, and they yellowed. You can slow the yellowing by just using them for "show" or using the paper floor mats that garages use to keep your rugs clean when they're working on your car on top of the clear mats..
Incidentally,the factory never provided floor mats back then. They were a dealer sourced accessory and as such would be incorrect to have in the car when being Flight judged.

About 15 to 20 years ago, repos were available that were clear as per origninal dealer installed mats. however, the repo clear mats were much softer and much more pliable than the original( dealer installed) varities. the repos were so soft, they refused to stay put on the midyear floorboards.originals laid right where ya put them and stayed put. both tended to yellow as the years passsed as noted in a previous post. mike

Fellas,

Since I have been around since these things called Corvette's were invented, I remember buying floor mats from my local chevy dealer. They were crystal clear and stayed put. Thru the years somebody decided they would sell pre aged floor mats and made them milky. Originals were clear. Al Knock still sells clear floor mats.

Mine is the same as the GM Restoration type that Romeo Engineering sell's. From original's i've seen these are not clear, but a milky white look instead.
Maybe over time they would become more clear in appearance,any comments?

Honorable sir. You have only been around since Corvettes were invented? I thought that I saw your name on the incorporation papers when "Crapo" Durant used Chevrolet to buy General Motors. Isn't your name also on the incorporation papers of Delco Electric Labratories Co?

Don, these are clearer then most I've seen. Mine are only about 6 monthes old so maybe they will yellow with age. Mike
