    C1 Carb choke tube

    I have a early 1960 with a single four barrel correct Carter carb (2818S) on it. My question is should the curved metal tube that comes out of the passenger side exhaust manifold and goes up to the choke on the side of the carb have any kind of covering on it?
    Mine does not but I have seen many photos of ones that look like they have some sort of fabric loom or something on them. It is usually a black or dark grey color from the color photos I have seen. I can find nothing mentioning this the Judging Manual or any other restoration book I have.

      Just raw metal, no covering of any kind.

          My 2x4 set up, which I bought from original owner of car, has big weave asbestos material on it. It fits on perfect and has no seams. It could have been added by orignal owner, scott 40610

                  Probably should have been covered, I can't tell you how many times I have burnt myself on those stinking little tubes!
