Anyone know how many of the 20 produced are still alive, (Excluding the bogus ones).

They built 20 and there are only 52 of them left today.

Sorry Don, guess I couldn't resist. I seem to remember 14 that were very well documented but that was several years ago and that number mat have changed. There were a few more that were on the "probably" list but weren't totally documented and also a few that go to the "maybe" list.

No more than 52. Wow, the survival rate is dismal.

I'm told there is a breeding ground just north and

and east of Cumberland PA where these things are begining to reproduce. It's a slow process though and mortality rate is high. The curator of this place cuts the heart out of the offspring and transplants it into his Willys, Olds or whatever else he has setting around...

          what a shame....

"IF" somebody found an original engine on e bay , sombody else discovered the body "in a barn" ,the orig frame was found in the junk yard, and all the paper work except the title was found at a yard sale. All the "new" owners could build a car. then when the title is found they could build a fifth car. Question is who would own a real L88????? It could happen.Bill

Before you get to thinking this is a joke, this is exactly what happens in the vintage racing world.

I had a good feeling that this question would produce a wiiiiide range of opinion's, and sarcastic view's. Sound's like a true L-88 going thru the gear's at Le-Man's
