My 66 has had a frame on restoration and the frame is in excellent condition. However, I do notice minor surface rust on the inside of the frame. Can anyone advise me how to preserve the inner sections of the frame without taking the frame off the car? The body shops I have spoken with do not recommend spraying in anything except penetration oil to retard further rust. Any suggestions? Also, does anyone know the torque specifications for the standard wheel lugnuts? Thank you

With the frame on the car, there is not too much more that you can do for the frame "innerds" except as your local shops have advised you. If you only have light surface rust, this will not rapidly proceed to heavy, frame-destroying rust unless other conditions are present. The main thing is to make sure that frame drain holes are clear of debris or obstruction and to keep the car free from exposure to salt-treated winter road conditions. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
