    finding replacement rotors/spring(9)

Hello All, I was hoping for some input into finding front rotors for my '71. I understand they are no longer avail.from GM and would like to hear who had good quality ones. I also have a little problem with my replacement rear spring. Bought it from Eaton but it is to thick by approximately 1/4" (Mine was an original 9 leaf). They said to remove a leaf but is there anything better?? Is there a replacement with the correct thickness?? My old spring has rust on some leafs so a rebuild is out. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am starting to reassemble after a frame off. Thanks, Dave S

Virtually all of the vendors sell rotors. I've bought from Muskegon Brake and Vette Brakes. You might want to consider having your new rotors and front hubs "trued" at a machine shop to remove runout. I'm aware of the replacement rear spring problem you describe, but can offer no advice as to a correct replacement source. I've rebuilt several originals...had them re-arched too without problems. How rusty are they? Chuck

Chuck, Thanks for the response and advice - wasn't sure who had good rotors, I'll try them and have them turned as a unit for runout. My springs have some pitting but maybe I should bring them to a local spring shop and see if they can be reworked. The pitting is under each leaf where the ends rub. Thanks again, Dave S

GM front rotors with hubs riveted like originals are still available from a GM dealer as part no. 3991024. They fit 1969-82's. There is a short no. of this item which is available from GM parts distributors and are also available from some of the major corvette parts vendors. I did buy several extra sets last year so if interested e mail me. The rear rotors from GM are discontinued.
