    Re: fiberglass or paint problems?!?

I have heard great things about Spic and Span as well. Anyone tried that? Supposedly leave a squeaky clean paint ready surface according to a PPG rep once it is great....Craig

Ok, let me rephase that statement......

The heat from merry sunshine and the heat gun will draw solvents (The Baaaad Stuff) to the surface. They may not be the same, but the results are the same. Billy, Billy, aren't you splitting hairs on this one?

I dont know.! ive never used a heat gun . but i do have 2 paint booths at work one has heat lamps the other is gas fired .the gas fired will go up to 190 /200 [bare body only] and i still say a hot summer day is better.BUT its not always summer in St. Louis and i have used infatech heat lamps and u v tanning lamps with success. and a heat gun is by far better than nothing..

PS never keep your car covered with plastic . it cannot breath and will cause lots of problems. plastic under the car is good ,it will keep moisture from getting trapped under the body and will help all those BARE metal parts from rusting.

            How about 500 watt halogens

got a pair, cost under 10.00 each. These buggers throw swo much heat it almost cost me my sanity. I had painted the car a month prior to crawling under and started assembling the rear wire harness, tail lamp assemblies, ets. and had covered the car with old bed sheets to keep the dust away. I took one on the 500 watt lamps and positioned it under the car. It threw so much light, and heat, that it melted the paint on the rear deck. I did not find out about it until a week later when I went to take the sheet off.....it wouldn't come off. The sheet had bodned to the paint...what a mess. Ended sanding the whole top rear panel and respayed it. BRG blended in real nice, perfect match with the rest of the quarters.

What was mindbogling, the lamp was on the ground and the car was jacked up and sitting on jack stands. I ended up with a nice sun tan.

                Re: Eliminator, Feather Fill Warning

Caution: Do not use these products over old paint or on the SMC fiberglass. No matter what the instructions say. BELIEVE ME! They have cost me Thousands of Dollars and I will never use them again. Come to think of it they have made me a few bucks when others have used them.
