I have recently purchased a new backup light switch that seems more correct compared to originals and definitly better than other repros I have seen. The wires are black with tracers of purple and green although the tracers are very faint. Does anyone know if purple and green were the original tracer colors? Also the switch is covered with gray silicone. Did original switches have a silicone covering and was it gray? Any and all thoughts appreciated.

Re: 1967 Backup Light Switch
Jim - Generally the colors of the tracers are typically described as pink and green. The "pink" one is definitely more on the pink/purple side than purple. It's the eye of the beholder. Anyway, the tracers are on the opposite sides of the two wires, i.e. only one of the colored tracers can be seen when looking at wire laying flat. "Original" 1993666 switches are stamped 666 on the back side of the mounting plate and a black material protective coating that is not very pliable, was applied to and covered the end of the switch where the wires attached to the switch body. The color of the coating was not gray and I don't think it was a silicone material. Pete- Top

Re: 1967 Backup Light Switch
Jim,
The wires should be black with a light green tracer and black with a pink tracer. The pink tracer is hot (with ignition ON) and the light green tracer sends it to the back up lamps.
