Joe: Sorry about the above NM post, I hit the wrong key.The question I hope you can answer for me concerns a water pump that I removed from my '63 because it was not the correct pump The pump in question is # 3859326 with a date of A1 2 with a 1" bypass opening. The pump had a reducing bushing in the bypass to reduce the opening to 5/8". I was wondering if you could possibly tell me what the correct application for this pump might be. I am of the opinion that it probably was not used on a Corvette. If you can help me with this I will really appreciate it. THX Len #39247

Re: Calling Joe Lucia
That pump was commonly used in truck applications. The same '326 casting as installed on Corvette and high horse Camaro, but with a larger external bypass in the upper boss. These are pretty common finds at scrap yards and not worth a lot. BUT, if you're VERY clever in figuring a method to hide a screw-in reducing adaptor (best bet the judges will look CLOSELY at the upper boss surrounding the bypass pipe), an undated, truck version of the '326 pump can 'pass' for a correct/original, high horse, Corvette SB water pump. Remember, in the end, the WORST judge you'll ever meet is YOU!- Top
