    generator part numbers question

    Can someone tell me the usage and amperage of the following generators:

    1102141 9L13 (this one looks close to my 62 except the mounting diameter is slightly smaller than the 3.5").

    1102099 7C29

    1100326 6L29

    Thanks

    Re: generator part numbers question

    Chris-----

    GM #1102141 is a 45 amp generator originally used on 1959 Cadillacs;

    GM #1102099 is a part number that I can find no application for;

    GM #1100326 was originally used on 1962 Chevy IIs with 4 cyl engine. It may also have had other applications. Either the one you have was used for some other application or it's a SERVICE generator. I show this generator as being a 25 amp unit.

      Re: generator output

      Thanks Joe. I did confirm the 1102099 number is as legible as can be on the generator. The general layout looks very similar to the 1100326 and they are dated within one year.

      The 45 amp is what was on my vette. Was there any harm using a 45 amp instead of the original 35 amp? It did have a smaller pulley.

      What is different inside these generators that changed the output?

      Thanks

        Chris-----

        A higher amperage generator should cause no problems, at all. If you have any added power consumptive electrical items on the car (like a powerful stereo), it may be an advantage. Generators are a bit different than alternators as far as power rating is concerned, though. I would probably not recommend the use of a generator that was hugely greater in capacity than the original. However, from 35 to 45 amps should be fine, though.

        The 1102099 may be a generator for a non-GM application. Delco-Remy generators were used for MANY non-GM applications. My check included most of the automotive non-GM applications. However, there were many non-automotive applications for these. Things like industrial engines, marine, HD truck and, even, aircraft. Most of these had frame configurations similar or identical to automotive. The 1102099 generator would have been initially produced in the 58-60 time period, though.
