Ashley, I'll bet you someone has told you that the Mobil 1 change over will
cause your car to start leaking oil in spots that never before leaked?
I can't say that this will hapen. However I had my engine rebuilt and it now has
about 1400 miles on it. When it was first rebuilt it had regular oil placed in
it. I then had the oil changed after about 1000 miles and used Mobil 1 at that
time. I now am having 2 oil leaks that have ben present for about 3 or 4 months.
The oil leaks are from the timing chain cover and also from the rear portion
of the engine. My mechanic said these can be repaired fooooor about $500.
I plan on having the work done in about 2 months when my budget will allow it.
I can't bring the car back to the rebuild shop because that shop had damaged
my car with a interior fire which they refused to respond to. Shop claims my
radio caused the interior fire. I has since located another mechanic who will
do the oil leak repairs.
Ashley I can't tell you Mobil 1 will be okay, however brand new Corvettes and
Porche's have Mobil 1 as their initial engine oil.
I think you should await more comments from memebers who have FACTS, not

The primary advantages of synthetic oils are longer service life due to lower oxidation rate and better flow in extremely cold temperatures. The additive package, which is the most important aspect of a motor oil, is the same for synthetics and mineral based blends that carry the current API rating for spark igntion oils, "SL".

Unless you want to use extended service intervals or use your car in arctic temperatures, synthetics offer little advantage.

Assuming you only drive the car occassionally, you should change the oil and filter at least once per year regardless of mileage.
