re red lines carl rose hi mr grice a few thoughts on redline tires i went through the same soul searching process a few years ago coker tire sells the following a michelin redline radial that is designed for use on british triumphs in the size as i remember i think i have seen these on one car and they appeared slightly too small as i had been warned this is on the smaller wheel widths also so i do not think this is a good option for your car coker lists i can't seem to find my catalog right now a redline radial tire i can't remember who manufactures it a few years ago i saw a set of i think they were bf goodrich redline radial tires or i seem to remember they appeared too wide for my car so i didn't pay much attention reproduction redline bias ply tires they are very similar to the originals although they will have load ratings and not get credit after much thought i purchased a set of reproduction redline bias ply tires they ride poorly follow every bump in the road are difficut to balance correctly probably need to balance both front wheels on the car but they look correct bias ply tires tend to bulge outward in the center section slightly more than radials obvious on side by side comparison and i really shouldn't be driving the old car very hard anymore anyway now i must add that the car had radials when i purchased it and it is not as easy to drive anymore depends on how determined you are to have original tires perhaps the reproduction radials are the best compromise interested in others opinions good luck carl p s coker has a web page online that may list all of their tires' specifications but it didn't work last i tried it

re red lines joe lucia well i guess i might as well add my two cents on this subject there are several ways to go on tires for a first you can obtain bias ply original reproduction tires from kelsey tire goodyear speedway wide tread this is the only true reproduction tire for models available and except for the tire markings dot correct only for after production load markings etc is as close as you can get to the original tire these are nylon cord ply tires they are expensive at about each in f size they will not ride or handle well by today's standards they will wear better than the originals since they are constructed of modern rubber compounds they are available in blackwall redline or whiteline configuration second you can obtain almost correct reproduction tires from coker firestone wide ovals firestone wide ovals were used on corvettes but the originals were bias belted ply nylon cord the reproduction wide ovals are fiberglass belted nylon cord this actually produces a better handling better riding longer wearing tire also the tire appears except for minor markings exactly like the original non fiberglass belted tire still this tire will not handle or ride well by today's standards they sell for about in f size and are available in all three sidewall configurations third you can use other goodyear reproduction tires available from kelsey tire the custom wide tread is a fiberglass belted tire available in all three sidewall configurations this is a fairly good handling but not so good riding tire it is not exactly like the originals in tread design but it is fairly close these tires sell for about although not available in redline sidewall configuration kelsey also sells a reproduction of the goodyear fiberglass gt i used these tires on my original owner ' for many years after my original speedway wide treads wore out the fiberglass gt was the best handling tire that i ever used on my car including the goodyear eagles that i've used for the last years or so however the fiberglass gt is very hard riding these tires sell for about in f size which is the size i used to use fourth you can use the coker radial redline unfortunately these tire are only available in series at the present time it is difficult to find a series size which is close to the original in diameter and section width also the tread design is of course totally unlike the original tires series tires are more suited to pre corvettes and other vehicles they are redlines though in modern radial construction
