    Valve spring specs

I have found valve spring specs in my 63 shop manual. If a spring measures out of spec on the low side (weak) can you use shims to get closer to spec, or is it best to get new springs?

    Steve-----

In my opinion, it's best to use new springs. Valve springs don't cost that much and you can still obtain original valve springs for most Corvettes.

      Steve -

Shimming a weak valve spring to restore its pressure reduces its effective installed height, which can result in coil bind at normal lift; you don't need that grief. Buy new ones - they're not that expensive.
