Mid Year Dash Rivets

My 67 coupe was repainted before I bought it, and the non-original paint covered the dash rivets. Frame off - I am trying to reinstall the dash - please advise how rivets were installed originally - what type of rivets, size, color, etc.

Standard aluminum pop rivet. Match size to your old one.

The original rivets would have had a black anodized head. I have one or two here and can measure the diameter if you need it.

If your car has matching interior/exterior colors, the rivets would not have been painted body color. The fiberglass dash tabs would be semi gloss, the same paint that you used on the center section of the dash.

If the interior and exterior are non matching, you can use any color rivets that you want because they would have been painted gloss body color along with the fiberglass dash tab.

The correct, black anodized rivets are sold by LICS. www.licorvette.com Not sure, but Dr. Rebuild might have them also.

In most cases, these rivets are painted over, so a standard 3/16" (5mm) aluminum pop rivet will look the same after paint. If your interior and exterior colors are the same, then you need the black rivets.
