Need advice / step by step procedure / check list for engine removal and re-installation for my 69 L36,Automatic,PB,PS. Is any good litterature available for this type of work ?

Egil are you going to leave the automatic transmission in the car and only remove the engine? I removed the engine (smallblock) from my 70 and left the transmission in the car, acutally left the transmission sitting on a floor jack using a large 2X10 piece of wood between the jack and the transmission pan. Tied the PS pump to the frame and lifted the engine out without even removing the hood. I did disconnect the hood support to raise the hood just a little more. Did remove the fan but left the radiator and fan shroud in place. Rented a engine hoist from U-Haul, removed the passenger front tire and came in from the side to lift the engine. My car had air, so just tied the compressor to the frame after removal not discharging the harmful R12 to the atmosphere. Worked well for me. Cleaned up the frame and painted it before reinstalling the engine.Comment

Jim, I dont know how difficult it will be to separate the BB engine from the automatic transmission in the car, - there appears to be limited working space. around the engine.
My intention is to refurbish the entire engine compartment with the engine removed and at the same time the clean and paint the front part of the frame. My engine needs some major external cleanup and probably re-finishimg of exhaust manifold interfaces. Want to keep everything original.
