Flea Market Find-Part 2

Lets try this again. As mentioned in my earlier post, I found this item at a local automotive flea market about 15 years ago and it's been sitting around collecting dust. Does anybody know of it's significance? Could this have been a dealer installed option for a Corvette? Any information would be appreciated.

This was a GM dealer parts counter accessory that almost every dealer in the country had years ago. They weren't very popular and GM probably discontinued then because of poor sales. They've had many such gadgets over the years but most came and went in a short time. If I remember correctly, they weren't model specific so everything from small trucks to Corvairs could have used them.

Like I said before accessory and don't let NCRS members see them. You can find them on e-bay quit often for sale.

Are they accurate? I bought a similar thing at FLAPS, but they don't work with radial tires.

They do work with radials as I've tried them on my car, but as far as accuracy goes, it's got a small scale that's kinda hard to read. I'll bet the accuracy is only good to the closest couple of pounds. I thought they may have been a very rare dealer option, but I guess I'm wrong.
