Starting to put the windshield assembly back together. The new seal seems to be a little short. I know it has to be tight, but I'm afraid of cracking the glass. Any suggestions? Can I stretch the seal a little without permanent damage?

Re: 1959 Windshield Seal?
Wayne,
I recently put a new seal on my '58 windshield. Had the same experience you are having with a tight seal. I had a helper hold the glass at the point where I felt there would be stress on the glass while I stretched the seal to fit. I centered the seal and then fitted one end, came across both top and bottom and then stretched the seal to fit the other end. It worked for me. Maybe I was just lucky. I'm sure there will be other posts on this. David- Top

Wayne...
Allow the weatherstrip to warm-up (just setting in the sun) before you start makes a big difference...Wayne's directions will do it...I also used masking tape in some places to make sure it stayed in position until I finished the complete installation- Top
