Oil Pressure sender on mid C3's

Isn't there a fitting that goes between the oil pressure sender and the block on the mid 70's cars w/ the electric oil pressure gauge? It's like a one piece pipe extension. Any idea where to find one? I've tried all the large catalog houses and it's not available from GM (well at least not by the orginal application) and the best I can do aftermarket is a pipe nipple with a coupler.

    Any ideas?

The part to which you refer was a reducing bushing. Originally, it was GM #6258296 and, later, GM #14022026. However, the last part was discontinued several years ago without supercession.

As far as a FUNCTIONAL replacement goes, I expect that you could get one in most good hardware stores. This is simply a bushing which has a male end which fits into the NPT block fitting and a female end into which fits the smaller NPT fitting of the sender. In other words, it reduces the block fitting to the smaller size of the sender fitting. I don't know what the size of these 2 fittings is, offhand, but I'm sure they're standard size. The block fitting is likely 1/2" or 3/8" NPT and, as I recall, the temp sender fitting is 1/8" NPT.

Joe, Conrad, I stand to be corrected but I believe that the male end of the fitting is 1/4"

        Guys,
Thanks for the responses. Joe I appreciate the part #'s.

I know I can make this up withy 2 pieces from my local auto parts or hardware stores and it looks like I may have to.

Actually this is going on my 69 Camaro Convertible with a mechanical gauge but I remember the peice being on my Corvette and thought it would help with the line mounting on top of the block behind the intake, but now that you mention the sizes I'm rembering this was a reducer and therefore won't work on top because the hole up there is an 1/8".

I appreciate the timely and accurate response. I found this site by posting a questions on the Camaro forum, camaros.net. At the moment I only have the 69 Camaro Convertible because I have kids, but I just decided to start the hunt for a 65-67 coupe and the Camaro will go to my wife. If you know of any NOM 65-67 sml blk coupes let me know.

        Thanks, and I'll be back

I believe that the part # for the adapter fitting that you need is Weatherhead 3200X4X2. 1/8" pipe male and 1/4" pipe female

Dick would there be a part number for 1/8" male x 1/8" female?

My intention, prior to realizint the peice I was talking about was a redcing bushing/adaptor, is to use this piece for my oil line on the top of the motor near the distributor, which is 1/8" pipe thread.

            Thanks for the help
