    1959 windshield install

Well guys belive it or not, we removed the old windshield out of my 59 and did not break it. We also got the correct dated one installed (no fun at all). My problem is that some how or another the drivers side does not want to pull down tight. It is about a quarter inch high. One stud seems to be stripped. Does anyone have any ideas how to correct this with-out having to remove the windshield again?. it is in a very tough spot.

    Regards, Steve

Steve, it should not have to be "pulled" much if at all. You can't get to the stud that goes in the post with the windshield on the car. Take it back off and see what the problem is. If you force sometning you may mess up your so far perfect record, ie break the new windshield, or perhaps worse yet, the side post.

steve, on the 57, according to OEM GLASS CO, the windshield never did fit down real good especially around the outer radius curved area===i just never noticed it . i checked some cars at shows and some people tried to caulk that area w clear and black caulk and i thought it looked worse than just leaving it. also where the back posts meet the dash on the inside, there is about 1/32 ince gap. i can tell from the old shim that there was considerable pressure there so the gap is there to stay.

Steve, I would just use the one bolt. There are enough other bolts pulling it down. Its not going anywhere. That windshield has to be the worst part of my whole restoration. Wait till the convertible top starts to pull on the top mouldings when you try to get canvas tight. Its all a bunch of compromises on all the cars I've seen.
