What is the correct color and finish for the bellhousing cover as delivered from the factory in 68? Thank you.

Henry,

The cover was originally installed on your engine with no paint or plating at all. It was raw steel but received a coat of engine orange on the front side when the engine assembly was painted so the bolts that hold it in place would have been painted also. There would have been almost no paint near the top center, the area behind the oil pan.

Covers that were sold through Chevrolet parts for service were dipped in semi flat black.
