    67 427 Hood

Is there a difference in the "factory-installed" hoods for 1967 427 Corvettes vs. one that would have been purchased over the counter? I have two 67 BB hoods and am not sure that either one is an original. How can I determine originality and was the assembly-line hood heavier than the replacement? Thanks, Rex NCRS #8089

    Re: 67 427 Hood

There were several different versions of over the counter hoods. They range from some that would be almost totally correct to the injection moulded abortion. Originals would be black glass or at least very dark, have flat rivets and have only one hood mounting provision for starters. Over the counters could be several color shades have incorrect rivets etc. two mounts etc. Depending on when it was made it could be mostly correct or have many flaws.
